Huh. You wouldn't think that such things would be edible. They kinda remind me of those little silver balls they use for topping cakes that always say "DON'T EAT IT!!" on the bottle. Although I guess the gold leaf is so minute that it won't hurt you too much. Eating a whole sphere(or several) would probably be much more harmful, I suppose.
I seem to recall at one point seeing gold leaf on one of those types of desserts that I happened to get a chance to try. I ended up picking it off because I didn't think you were supposed to eat it. XD
