Avocadocumentary--Week 10: Quadruplets!

I decided to change the format from parts to weeks, as you've probably noticed. I've been doing this for ten weeks now, and I realized, you know, this is likely to go on for a while, to the point where the parts would be, well, sliver-sized. So we're switching to weeks.

Avobaby looks like it's about the same size it was last week. Not much change in the height or the amount of bark on the bottom or whatnot, though it's still looking pretty healthy, which is good. I realized that the palm tree phase it was going through a few weeks ago was apparently an angsty cry for water. It was doing it again the other day, but perked right back up after I gave it a drink. It still thinks I don't understand it though, and lately it's been not telling me anything about what it's been doing or who it's become friends with or anything. Crazy teenage plants. In any case everything looks the same. But...


LEAVES AHOY! <3 <3 <3 It looks like there's at least four developing up there, though there may be more hidden in the bud. I can't wait for them to flesh out! Though this probably means it may be time for another repotting soon, which may also mean that it'll outgrow the sill. I bought a supposed grow bulb to play with, but I need to find a good rig for it before I'll feel comfortable subjecting Avobaby to it. Maybe I could just put it into a desk lamp, or something, and stick it in the room Avobaby would end up in. It wouldn't be much, but it'd be a supplement to natural light, I guess.



On a different note, I've been thinking. I've been enjoying watching Avobaby grow and documenting it, and you know, there are *tons* of other produce that I could try to grow plants from--watermelons, tomatoes, apples, cheyotes, and so on. So, what if I were to make a website documenting the growing attempts of these various fruits/vegetables/etc? Anyone have any thoughts on this? My only concern is that I'd need to look up the rules on growing plants from produce, as I know there are some varieties that are copyrighted, or licensed, or something. I think the rule is that as long as you don't sell what you end up growing(or any fruit that it may put out), you're golden. I should make sure though. The last thing I want is somebody getting in trouble for growing and selling something, and the blame coming down on me.

I would also need to brush up on my HTML and design skills, which aren't exactly vast. Anyone know of a good resource for beefing up on such things?

also, i think it IS okay to grow things, and even sell them, as long as you just label them as "peaches" or whatnot (and not market them as, say, "PF15 peaches"). we have a HUGE peach industry here and there are many people who just sell/give away whatever they have grown in their backyards.

I don't know beans (oops) I mean, anything about HTML, but I use NVU to make my own page: grantpilkay.com if you're interested. NVU's at http://www.nvu.com/index.php It's no dreamweaver, but it's freeware and no spyware's involved, so it does the job for me. I love Open Source stuff.

Hm, I suppose that's a good point. And as long as they're not a particularly distinctive fruit, such as, say, red-flesh apples, I guess it wouldn't make too much of a difference.
