DressQuest part 5: The Final Chapter!
I said to myself, "Self, you really need to make this last chapter before you head to the wedding. It would be kind of silly to go and wait until after you got back!" And I agreed, so gosh darn it here we are!
Okay, so this last one is all about the accessories. All of the weddings I've been to in the past have been spring weddings, which meant that I had very little in the way of fall wedding-type things. For starters, I didn't have black party shoes, which according to Mum, just wouldn't do. So I have shoes.

My curtains ate up the top of the shoe, but you can get the general idea. I left the wrapping in on the inside as well, so you could see the awesome lacing. I LOVE these shoes. They're like a deconstructed ankle boot. I have a certain fondness for ankle boots, possibly due to a residual fondness for Sailor Jupiter, or something. But anyway. I love the style of these shoes. The only thing that I worry about is that the heel is large. This is the largest heel I've ever worn, and that makes me a bit nervous. I don't really know how well my feet will tolerate them. I bought some cushioning, which I hope will help with the PAIN factor, and allow me to wear them longer than fifteen minutes.
I also hope, due to my lack of experience with high heels, I don't fall on my face, as that would be thoroughly ungraceful.
So while I had all the plans in the world to make my own wrap, while at Belk's one day, I decided to check out their wrap section on a whim. Turns out it was the right day to do it, as they were having a huge sale, and I got this little number for a song:

The beading at the bottom is pretty neat. I am such a sucker for a gradient. I think the beading will help it go with the dress, and since it's black, it'll go with the shoes, so there's the whole coordination thing going on.
Finally, I got something for wearing outside, since I figure it's going to be a bit chillier in DC than it is here.

Ruana! :D For some bizarre reason, my camera decided to turn the wrap purple. In reality, the ruana is dark grey, with light grey for the patterning. The design is really awesome. The fun thing is that Mum got a very similar one, so we'll be somewhat coordinated!
To a certain extent, getting this ruana is me throwing caution to the wind. I have some sort of sensitivity to wool, whether it be an actual allergy or my skin's violent aversion to rough wool, meaning I need to stick to higher-end wool to avoid a puff-out reaction. What exactly it is has been a subject for debate, and I've been trying to test it by knitting with various forms of wool. This ruana is made from pashmina wool, which I can detect by touch as wool, but it's pretty soft. I figure if I can handle this alright, then my sensitivity is probably just from rough wool, which would be kind of awesome, as it'd open up a whole new level of yarny goodness to me. <3

And a close up of the design. There's something very Medieval to it, I think.
With the addition of those, I am ALMOST READY. The only thing I need to figure out is how to wear my hair. I'm waffling between somehow putting it up, or letting it hang loose, and just pulling the frontmost locks back, pollyanna-style. Lately, I've been leaning towards putting it up, as having it hanging can be a pain in the neck. But on the other hand, since my hair is as long as it is, why not let it hang loose? It doesn't get much screen-time as it is.
I dunno. Any thoughts from the studio audience?
