So a bunch of my old friends and I got together for the annual cookie making party, put on by aneles. I must say, that was a serious blast. And that was just the cookie making part. ^^ We made several types--the usual frosting-covered, sprinkle-decorated sugar cookies, along with coconut macaroons and these nifty pecan-oatmeal-apricot square things that are extremely yummy. We also made some chocolate truffle cookies, but the batter had to chill and we couldn't get to them before it was time for us to go. Oh well. The apricot things will keep me busy.

And of course other silliness was involved. I was introduced to the joys of sweetened, condensed milk, both by itself and in tea. It's kinda like adding milk and sugar at the same time. We also discovered that yes, it is possible to have a sweetened condensed milk moustache. Besides that, lots of tea was drunk, pictures were taken, people were renamed, and we all giggled like we were ten, all under the gaze of a miniature replica of Michaelangelo's David. Then halfway through the mail came, including a complimentary girls' magazine which of course we all took to mocking. I'm not quite sure why these magazines, which appear to have a target audience of early-mid teens, feel the need to send them to twenty year olds. Go figure.

After we had finished baking, we went into the living room where we proceeded to have fun with Russian fairy tales. One of the girls just finished taking a class on them, and being that another one of us happens to be Russian, we of course had to discuss this. Among other things, we learned that the main male character in most is called Ivan, the number three is extremely significant, the youngest of three brothers will most assuredly be a fool, and eye gouging is a popular method of punishment. And at the end, the narrator will reassure his knowledge in the story by saying how he drank a lot of mead with the characters. It actually was rather interesting to hear about. And furthermore there was a book of Russian fairy tales on hand, so we got to hear some of these first hand. Fairy tales can be such fun sometimes. ^_^

And on a final note, to Honey, My Sugar, My Molasses: I love you all. <3 <3 <3 <3
