Two days to weddingness.

Wow...so tired. And I don't think it's just the benadryl. Preparations for wedding goodness are in full swing now, between collecting things needed, ironing clothing, and so on and so forth. We've already had our first crisis, in the form of that we got the tuxes for the guys today, and apparently none of them fit for one reason or another. So we'll have to either make do with what there is, exchange it, or have my gramma fix it herself, as she's awesome at things like this. My cousin had a freaking out moment, but it passed, and I think things'll work out okay. I don't think I've ever heard of a wedding go on without some sort of crisis just beforehand going on. To cite an example, at my parents' wedding a bajillion years ago, apparently my aunt, who happened to be in the wedding party, came down with a case of shingles like THE DAY BEFORE. However, she was a real trooper, and managed to go on with things despite not being totally 100%.

While out and about today, my mom and I managed to pick up a pair of really pretty hair combs and, with the assistance of my cousin, come up with a bun-type do that she can wear at the wedding. Which is good, because she was worrying about it. And while we were at the whole hair-experimenting thing, we came up for a way for one of my younger cousins to wear her hair.

Just about everyone's here at my aunt's house now. About the only people we're waiting on are another aunt and uncle set, at which point the house will be at full capacity. They'll be showing up tomorrow night. It sounds like tomorrow morning we're all going to pile into the car and drive over to where the wedding will be held and decorate the place, which oughta be interesting. It actually might be fun though. I've seen some of the decorations, and they're really nice. My cousin's picked out an ivory/red color scheme, with rose petals and candles and everything, so it oughta look really awesome when all's said and done.

And being part of the family, I've gotten some wedding duties for Saturday. Namely, I'll be helping my mom handle the flowers, getting them all ready and passing out boutineers, bouquets, and corsages to those who need them, and so on and so forth. Yay, I get to fuss with plants! Even if they're of the cut variety. ^_^

On a slightly different note, being a botany enthusiast in a completely different climate/soil area has its advantages. I've been going "!!!" at all the different plants down here that I don't see back home, like palm trees, banana trees, cypresses, spanish moss, all sorts of vines, grasses, and shrubs, and so on. It's pretty awesome, at least to me. Actually, one of the most fascinating things I've seen are the different pine trees. I'm used to seeing the loblolly pines back home. These are quite different, with peculiar, short, rounded shapes and long, thick, almost soft and fluffy-looking needles. I almost wish I had a plant book with me so I could walk around and identify things that I haven't seen before. Even the GRASS is different. It looks to be much broader, greener, and pricklier than the stuff I'm used to back home. Yeah, don't mind me, I'm geeking out. ^_^;;
