Due to various circumstances, I found myself wandering the halls of the poultry science building (yes, we have a poultry science building. Seriously. Building o' chickens.) in search of a restroom, and inadvertently stumbled upon (coincidentially) the animal waste management lab. I was, needless to say, unamused to discover that I had found it, and also somewhat distraught to discover that it wasn't exactly air tight. For the next several hours, I was smelling what I'm almost certain was CHICKEN POO on my person, and was not particularly pleased by it. Glad I came across it after lunch, rather than before.

I have to wonder, how does one decide that they want to do research on animal waste? I mean, okay, fine, I can see some research projects that could be involved, such as breeding poo-less cows, but who actually volunteers for such a job? And do they have cast-iron gag reflexes? Or no sense of smell?

This is one reason why I prefer working with plants over animals. With few exceptions, they smell infinitely better.

i'm sure it's more than just chickenpoo you smelt. i've been by chicken farms and they smell of poo and death. it's horrible and sticks in your nose for hours! people do it b/c they're weird like me. b/c it needs to be done at some point. it's disgusting and i'm sure they'd all agree, tho. hahaha
