Uuuuugh. While I don't want to dis the rain, as it's keeping my garden watered (and apparently also spawning mushrooms in it), I really wish it didn't come with pressure changes that make my sinuses turn into little temperamental balloons. Head hurting. ;_;

On a different note, I shall squee about hummingbirds. <3 We've had a feeder out for about a year now, in addition to the seed/suet feeders, and this year they've really started noticing it. We've been getting regular visitors, much to our delight, especially since they like to come around dinnertime, so we can watch them while we eat. SO CUTE. They're tiny and buzzy and adorable. And apparently now that they've noticed the feeder, they like it, as they've taken to binge drinking. They'll perch on the little rung surrounding the feeder and CHUG. I guess that's what you do when you find what appears to be a bottomless flower. Unfortunately, since the air's on, we can't keep the window open to see if they're arguing for or against artificial turf, so we're not sure what level of drinking they get to.

Happy birthday to me!
I'm two and twenty!
I love chocolate cake and
Sweetened milk with black tea!

I'm still finding it very strange to think of myself as 22 now. I don't really feel like I'm 22. I mean, I look in the mirror and I say to myself, "This is a 22-year old looking at you." and myself says back, "Naaaaaah." Actually, I think Dad hit the nail on the head for why this is completely weirding me out--I'm now officially a twenty-something. 20 was really the setting of being a teenager and all, and then 21 was kinda the cusp, and now I'm officialy on the other side from teenagehood and not-quite-completely-legalhood, and moving fully into the realm of adulthood and really-responsiblehood.

Hm. Being 22 has apparently also affected my ability to form coherent words and sentences.

Anyway! Birthday! It started out kinda yucky, since I ended up with a very nasty headache that seemed content to make my life miserable. After trying to will it away with aspirin and copious amounts of Sushi TV, I finally gave in and took a nap with an ice pack at my head and a dog curled up at my tummy. That managed to make it go away to the point where I didn't feel like somebody was stabbing me repeatedly over the eye with an ice pick and making me wish I could have a headectomy. Therefore, I was well enough to go out with my family and have yummy Italian food and come home and have The Best Chocolate Cake in the World and presents! Yay presents! I now have, among other things, more anime to watch and Myst V to play. That way I can find out what new tragyedy has befallen Atrus's family! Maybe it'll involve more Saavedro-like loonies! Whee!

In conclusion, headaches are bad, and chocolate cake is good. <3 <3 <3 <3

Vocal Detatchment
A condition wherein the patient is so strained to find new ways of writing things and explaining concepts that the speech center of the patient's brain, in an attempt to protect itself, creates redundant neural pathways, resulting in a speech pattern that largely consists of repeated phrases and patterns, causing the patient to sound like a broken record. An example:

"So there was this nursery that my family I used to go to when I was little, and it was a nice nursery, with nursery-like plants and we would go there for nursery things when I was little, because it was a nearby nursery and it was a good nursery too, and so this nursery..."

Suggested treatment: Embarassment, compounded with a swift kick to the head could rattle the speech center, destroy the redundant pathways, and return the patient's speech pattern to normal.

Cerebral Grouchopathy
A condition wherein the patient experiences severe stress on the intelligence portions of the brain, resulting in pressure being placed on the grouch gland. This disease is most severe during the final weeks of the last semester before graduation, due to elevated anxiety levels and increased levels of cynicism, compounded with a very low WRE (well-rested enzyme) count. Symptoms include:

--Sullenness
--A plodding carriage
--Increased tendency to bite the heads off of irritants
--High sensitivity to even the most stupid irritations and inconveniences, such as not finding the right kind of rice at the grocery store, dealing with tempremental copiers, and taking tons of detours to get around school construction.

Suggested treatment: A hot shower, a decent meal, and copious amounts of chocolate can relieve the symptoms of cerebral grouchopathy. The most effective cure, however, is removing the patient from the collegiate environment as quickly as possible, as cerebral grouchopathy can lead to serious complications such as "Snapping".

Spontaneous Ditzatoma:

A disease that appears to be most prevalent in the later months of summer, and is most pronounced in seniors that normally are much more together. There is the theory that excessive heat and impending school are the culprits for this enigmatic disease. Symptoms include:

--Glazed look
--Increased gravity in the vicinity of the patient, resulting in an increase in dropped objects
--Listlessness
--Englargement of the memory gland, resulting in severe cases of absent-mindedness.
--Increased cases of irritation, especially if the patient's source of the disease is the bacteria Angriococcus

Suggested treatment: No known cure for spontaneous ditzatoma, although liberal application of chocolate has caused improvement in Angriococcus infections. The disease usually runs its course and recedes by the end of the first week of school.

I think I have this. Over the past few days, particularly during move-in back to the dorms, I've forgotten a whole box of stuff and my bedsheets, which was severely annoying. You'd think I wouldn't forget a big fat huge box of stuff, let alone my bedsheets. Furthermore, I've been dropping things left and right and I've been having bouts of snappishness and irritation. I hope the disease will run its course soon, 'cause I don't know how much more I can take of myself.
