ruWhen I was much younger, we had one of those old Packard Bell 386-type computers (hopefully I'm remembering that right). Occasionally, my Dad would use it to connect to Compuserve. When I asked him what he was doing, he said that he was talking to a computer up in Ohio. To my 6-year-old self, the fact that my Dad was sitting in our house and was connected to a place several states away made me absolutely giddy. In our little home, my Dad was suddenly connected to Ohio! *glee*
The reason I bring this up is because I was sending a package internationally today, and discovered some of that giddiness cropping up. There's something a little exciting about taking something and sending it to another continent. I think it's because for a moment, at least, I'm physically connected to the opposite side of the world. And for that moment, the world feels a little bit smaller.
Just wanted to share my little moment of glee from today. <3 <3
