I think I shall do that Eight Things meme, as continued by [livejournal.com profile] gekizetsu.

Eight Things:

1.) I have a thing about how I eat oranges. They need to have as little white lining as possible, and as few of the veiny conduits as manageable. This means that peeling an orange Ru-style takes a bit longer than others might. I do, however, love oranges. And on a more botanical slant, as far as fruit types go, hesperidiums (i.e. citrus fruits) are my favorite. They're just so interesting (for example, the little pod things that actually hold the juice? They're swollen hairs.)
2.) I'm something of a late bloomer. For example, I didn't get my full driver's license until I was 21. I was slow about getting things like AIM, actually using my email address, and getting an LJ. And so on.
3.) I'm predominantly left-handed. I do almost everything with my left hand. Except cut things with scissors. I do that with my right. Go figure.
4.) On road trips, I like to stare out the window at the trees rushing by and try and pick out ones that I recognize. THERE'S a big surprise.
5.) One of my childhood dream jobs was paleontologist. Yep, I went through the dinosaur phase as well (Parasurolophus was, and still is, I suppose, my favorite). Admittedly, paleobotany still interests me. Now, if I can only get into the class for it at some point...
6.) I still remember my Prodigy password. No, I won't tell you. You might find a way to go back in time, and then use my Prodigy account for nefarious doings. Very slow nefarious doings.
7.) I was trying to write stories as early as fourth grade (second, if you count the fact that I was writing poems then). The one that I remember sticking out most in my mind featured, among other characters, a mermaid in her own sort of personal go-kart aquarium. You know, so she could get around.
8.) Please tell me I'm not the only one who does this--sometimes, if someone gets me laughing hard enough, I'll end up with a case of the hiccups, all from being amused. As far as I know, I'm the only one who has this issue.

And, since #8 triggered this memory, bonus fact #9: In the category of Strange Things Coming Out Your Nose from Laughing Too Hard: Circumstances once ended up with me laughing so hard that udon soup came out my nose. [livejournal.com profile] dlbieder knows all about this. :p

And now, eight people to tell us interesting habits/facts about themselves:

I agree; the veiny things are gross. Actually, in anything ever.
Ru, are we related? I'm left handed and didn't get my license until I was 23.

You should definitely try paleobotany.

Hm, well, there is that secret cloning project out of Wisconsin...we must be a couple of escaped embryos! XD

I really do want to try it. I was gonna take it my last semester, but then discovered that it's only offered every other year, and that year was an off year. I suppose I could take it as a grad class, or perhaps as continuing education, or something. The class itself sounds really neat--apparently there's a fossil site nearby that the class utilizes for trips and whatnot.

My dream job when I was little also was paleontologist. Only I never really out grew it. Might not be what I do for a living, but it sure makes for a fun hobby. Especially when someone is going through your room and asks "What is this?" and you can answer with all honesty "Ancient whale rib. Do you want to see a vertebrae?"

Ha ha! Yes, I do remember the udon. Don't remember what I said to trigger it, but I do remember the result.

Since I don't really feel like posting 8 things to my journal, I'll hijack your comment area and you have no way to stop me! bwah ha ha! (ok, you can delete it, but still)

1.) I also do the orange thing. But because I'm so anal about peeling it, I rarely eat oranges.
2.) Peanut butter is a staple food for me. Ever eat peanut butter on carrots? People freak out when I say I do that, but my mom used to give it to me as a snack. Or peanut butter in your milkshakes? Creamy goodness!
3.) While I love peanut butter, I don't really like peanuts. Go figure.
4.) My thumb's double jointed. Haven't found a useful application for this besides freaking people out.
5.) My left knee looks really gross. I think I popped it out of place when I was 8 so ever since then the top of my shin bone sticks out at the knee. Again, fun to gross people out. But it also gets me out of having to sit seiza (on your knees Japanese style) so it's more useful than my thumb.
6.) As for things going out the nose... Ever throw up out your nose? Trust me, if it feels like it's gonna come up, let it!
7.) One of my favorite animals is the water bear (tardigrade). Do you remember them from ZO150? They walk on lobopods! Lobopods! Fun!
8.) Does anyone else have this happen?... If I eat something sour (like citrus) my eyelids feel like they're sweating and cold. Sourpatch kids are the worst! I can't eat them while watching a movie because my eyes feel really weird!

From what I remember, it was that "I'll have sex for apples" story. For some bizarre reason, despite the fact that I had heard it once before (you were telling it to Rachel at the time, iirc), hearing it again tickled me to the point that it got udon coming out my nose.

2.) I don't really see why people would freak out over peanut butter and carrots. It actually sounds pretty good. I don't think it would be any different from, say, peanut butter and celery.

7.) Eeee, tardigrades! I adore them. They're like six-legged bears! That wiggle cutely! ^_^
