Hm. I appear to be lapsing into more of a once-every-two-weeks update, as opposed to weekly. To be honest, I don't think enough has been happening on a weekly basis to really warrant a whole post. Maybe once Hal gets moving I'll go back to weekly. Hurry up, Hal! We're all waiting for you!

Instead of struggling to get Avobaby over the baby gate used to keep Arnold at bay in order to get it into the kitchen, I thought perhaps I'd take the pictures right where Avobaby hangs all day.

Welcome to Avobaby's world! Yes, that is a trash bag laid out underneath. It's just in case I get overenthusiastic with the watering. My indoor gardening is so friggin' glamorous.

It definitely seems like Avobaby's leaves are taking a smaller stint. Those ones just below the new ones coming in are full-grown at this point, I think, and I think they've settled a little smaller than the ones before them. Maybe Avobaby's going through an artistic phase, or something. I'm also debating whether or not Avobaby's stem is thickening or not. I've been trying to coax it into thickening with the occasional blowing and shaking, but I don't know if it's been frequent enough to do anything or not.

Also in this picture is Avobaby's roommate-on-the-trash-bag, Ginger. Ginger is (surprise surprise) an ornamental ginger plant. I rescued Ginger from certain trashy doom at the greenhouse. When I got her, she was basically a ginger root with the dying remains of a previous incarnation. For quite a while after planting her, she didn't do anything, until Mom said the magic words, "I think it's dead." She then came forth, all fuzzy and prettily-leafed and everything. At some point I think I'll take a picture of Ginger's leaves for all to see--they're really quite nice. They have this neat striped thing going on. If you squint, you can see her hiding behind Avobaby.

Avobaby's newest leaves are still kinda orange-y. I'm hoping as they grow they'll lose their orangeness. Avobaby looks much better with its natural color. Maybe this is just another phase. They are, however, still quite cute, being all shiny and whatnot. Also interesting is the fact that four of the five protoleaves survived this time. Perhaps this is a sign Avobaby is planning on getting lusher? We shall see!

Again in the background is Ginger, or at least the remnants of her previous incarnation. I haven't gotten around to cutting it off yet.
