Blah.

Well, I guess the bad news first.

Hal seems to be slowly wasting away. There's definitely more brownness than there was the last time I reported on him. I've also moved him into the dining room so he could be with Avobaby. Avocados do seem to do everything slowly, even if it's failing health.

I'm still holding out hope that Hal will turn around. Maybe this is still pruning shock. I'm not going to declare him dead until his leaves are completely brown. Hn. I guess it's almost a good thing I named Hal Hal. Because then I could do Hal v.2.0. But now I'm being morbid, and I'd rather not be. I'm just going to hope that Hal gets his act together soon.

On the up side, Avobaby seems to be doing quite well. I don't know how easy it is to see in this picture, but it seems like Avobaby's stem has firmed up a bit. I think maybe putting it in a spot where the air vent occasionally blows on it has helped. It gets a slight breeze, and that seems to be firming things up. There also seems to not be any new leaf drop, which is a good thing. It's entirely possible Avobaby was just being dramatic at the time. We all know how much of a diva Avobaby can be. XD

Speaking of divas. The purple-leafed mint seems to be trying to hog the camera in this picture. It wants to get out of the chorus and be a staaaaaaaar!

poor hal. i hope it's just shock. you did what you were told to do...maybe he just didn't like it. :( did you try and read up on why the browning?

also, good avobaby. babycado just shot out his 3rd set of adult leaves and WOW they're huge! babycado waited a month and a half before releasing those leaves...but once they came, they came quickly! it was crazy! i need to take more pix.

Oh, Hal.

I have not said for a while, but my first avocado has hit a kind of plateau... two leaves have burned spots from being in direct sunlight for a few days, outside, before I moved him back indoors. Then new leaves grew, and green filled in around the crispy bits.

My second avocado, however... After it got a leaf, I put it outside in a little window-box style pot, and it prompty died off... and then three weeks later, sent out twelve small leaves on a short stem, and said "hey, I'm done for the summer."
And that is how it has spent the summer outside- shorter, and with smaller leaves than the other, but with MORE leaves than the other.

I forgot to bring it in when I went back to schooltown... so I dunno how it's doing right now. ^^;;; Avocado the first was doing well, last I checked. It's in a big pot, MUCH earlier than it needed to be, so it has probably put more energy into roots than leaves.
