Avocadocumentary: Weeks 45/46/47

ruWell, I've obviously fell behind. I've been kinda almost not been wanting to do it, because seeing Hal slip is depressing.
So, I went poking around to see if I could find anything on Avocados and browning leaves. In several places I saw that it can be the result of the humidity being too low. That actually makes me kinda wonder--maybe clipping Hal caused him to lose water from his leaves, or something? I dunno. It kind of makes sense. But in any case, I've put a drywell underneath him (i.e. pan o' water and rocks). I don't know that it's really helping any or not, but I figure it can't hurt.
He doesn't seem to be getting any better, in any case. That top leaf is on its way out, which perplexes me. You'd think that the lowest leaf, being the oldest, would be the first to go. It's rather odd.
Still no signs of life from the buds. I wonder if the buds are dead.
On a morbid note, I got a different type of avocado the other day at the grocery store. Supposedly it's a 'lite' avocado, having less fat than your standard avocado. It's also bigger (so it's probably the same amount of fat if you still eat a whole half), and has a smooth, bright green skin. I'm probably going to save the pit. I don't know if this'll be a Hal replacement or not, but we'll see. I kinda feel a little guilty about it, though. It's like jumping the gun before he's pronounced dead. Meh.
On a different note, though, Avobaby seems to be in good health. Such good health that I don't need to kneel down to take pictures of it anymore--this was taken with me standing up. It seems kind of odd to me that Avobaby basically seems to have started a whole new set of leaves, apart from the rest of them. Is this some sort of bizarre second stage? Is Avobaby attempting to remake itself again? Maybe it's developing a split personality, where one is its original self, and this is now becoming some sort of bizarre, warped personality, where it does things like eat socks and sensible curtains garnished with rosemary (for a bit of cannibalism!)?
I dunno. What I do know, though, is that if Avobaby keeps this up, it'll soon be taller than me. Think on that and tremble!
