Knitting Picture Dump
Jul. 24th, 2009 05:32 pmI've been meaning to share some photos of a few projects I've completed. <3 Because I love sharing knitting love!

I've finished the socks! Here they are from the front!
They were made using this pattern and Cascade Fixation yarn, which is a combination of cotton and spandex. It's a wonderful sock yarn, I've found. <3 The pattern is really nice too--it's pretty simple, so it's easy to memorize, meaning you can do other things while knitting. The project was my companion during the semester when I had to attend seminars, and were a boon when the speaker was a hardcore molecular biologist and lost me after the first slide.

And the back!
The sock on the left was the one I finished first, and it fits wonderfully. The one of the right, not so much so. I'm not quite sure why--maybe I was knitting a little more loosely for that one. So that one's a little baggy and prone to slippage, but it's not too bad. I'm still pleased I managed to finish them. <3

Pay no attention to the sneaky tentacle in the corner.
I finished this project a while ago, but I never quite got around to posting pictures of it. It was knitted using Laines du Nord silk. The pattern itself came out of a book, but I got a little creative and invented the stripe pattern. I was trying to go for something of a fade-to-black look, or perhaps a descent into the abyss (hence the Anahita reference <3).

I got a little overexcited with the yarn changes, though, and didn't bother to cut the yarn between colors. The result is that the stripes are a little loose, so I think next time I need to be a little more dutiful about that. I also really need to look into how to make jogless stripes, as the jump in the stripes bugs me a bit. Despite that, though, I'm pleased with how it turned out. <3 I still have a bit of the purple left, and a lot of the black, so I want to try making one more and try to get more of a fade effect. That one will be predominantly black, I think.
I also got some bright green yarn, so at some point I want to make a Zlar bag too. XD;;
