And now, the Ru-action to the Doctor Who season 5 trailer, coordinated with the scenes as they appear:

--I'm still not sure what I think of Eleven's look. It seems like at least appearance-wise, it's an attempt at Ten v. 2.0, which bothers me. Ten is definitely a very hard act to follow, but I don't think imitating him is the best way to go. I kinda sorta wish they had gone with the all-black look I saw in some of the early promos, which is kinda reminiscent of Nine, but wholly different. It also speaks to the darker stories Moffat seems to be known for.
--Oooooon the other hand, Ten was never really known for punching people or shooting guns, so that may be where they deviate. I can't help but think a little brash-teenager-ish. Which actually could be kind of interesting. On average, the older the Doctor gets, the younger he becomes.
--HOLY SHIT WEEPING ANGELS SHIT SHIT SHIT AAAAAUGH. D: D: D:
--Ohhhh, please don't tell me they're going to hop on the vampire bandwagon. Please?
--(DOCTOR + PLUNGER) + DALEK = WIN
--I'm interested to see how the new companion works out. She's very cute, and at least from the preview, seems to be a policewoman? I think? Maybe that'll give her a bit of a tougher edge. Appearance-wise, she makes me think of a young Donna.
--I'm still not sure what I think of the new logo. It's very cleverly done, but it feels...I dunno. It feels like it's aimed at the younger crowd, instead of appealing to all. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. At least the old logo made it very plain as to what it was. We'll see.

I'm with you on Eleven's look, though looking at promo photos, it doesn't look that much like Ten to me at all, other than the brown.

I miss the black. The sweater and skinny jeans with the jacket looked really darned good, and definitely suited the actor better. I kind of wonder whether the silly bow tie is there just to balance out all the inevitable darkness that the show will be full of.

New companion looks super sweet.

I kind of like how "iconic" the new logo is, with the slowly-pulsing light at the top of the initials, but I'm not a fan of the font they used with the words on the side.

I dunno, maybe it's the brown that's making me think Ten, then, with the longish messy hair. Either way, yeah, I think black would have been better too. It would have gone with what I think is going to be a dark season. Although I think you may have a point, that the bow tie would probably help to lighten his image up a bit.

I totally agree about the new companion! She looks downright adorable. She's gonna have a tough act to follow too, though, after Donna. DONNA. <3

I am really, really unsure of what I think about the whole new Doctor angle -- did you know the director, producer, writers, etc. are all new as well? Everything is going to be different, and the new guy has stated he's going to phase out all the old traditional DW monsters, bad guys, etc. and introduce new ones which... I'm just not sure about. :/

As for Matt Smith himself... I've seen him in a couple of things and I thought he was rubbish as an actor, and I thought the brief bit of Eleven we did see was just meh. I was so disappointed I haven't even looked at any of the trailers/promos/etc. :(

Phasing out the traditional monsters/villains may not be a bad idea in itself. There isn't a lot of play left for most of them without revising their timelines and/or their treatment in the new series. I expect we'll still see some of the old ones from time to time though.

It really does sound like they're going to be starting with a whole new clean slate. From what I can tell, that seems to be the idea, considering that Davies is leaving. I do have high hopes for Moffat, though, considering he's written some really great episodes, including The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances and Blink (which is still my favoritest episode so far).

That's probably why the Weeping Angels are making a second appearance, I imagine. I'm not sure I'm keen on the idea, though, scariness aside. I think it's the unveiling of them and what they are that makes them so great and scary, and without that shock factor, they lose a bit of their edge.

I'm still wary of how things will work out, but I'm hoping it will. It is the Doctor, after all, and I loves me some Doctor. <3

It actually reminds me a little of a throwback to Five and his hilarious cricket suit + celery.

However, anything but Eight and I'm happy. God, I hated Eight.

I still haven't seen any Five episodes, but I have heard wonderful things about celery. Maybe the sunglasses Eleven was sporting are the new celery? <3
