Okay. I'm either getting sick or my allergies are deciding they seriously hate me. Problem is, both are equally probable. It's about the right time for my allergies to start acting up, and the rest of my family has had to grapple with the same bug, in which case it's probably my turn. I've had a horrible time with sneezing today. We're talking four or five-sneeze bouts at a time here. Highly annoying. Well, I guess it could be worse. I won't say how though, because then I'll just end up jinxing myself.

I did manage to pick up a copy of "Wicked" today. It looks like it'll be a fun read. ^_^ Assuming I get the time to read, of course. Well, if nothing else, I can read during lunchtime during summer school. I got through half of the Death Gate series that way last year. I hope it'll be a good book. I'll post it up on [livejournal.com profile] spinebenders after I've read it if I think other people will like it. That reminds me...Note to self: Add "A Dab of Dickens and a Touch of Twain".

In other news, I went spelunking into my closet today and unearthed my pony collection. I don't think it's complete though, since it looks like some of the members I recall having are missing. But I'm glad I found them, and it looks like they're all in pretty decent shape. Some have WILD AND CRAZY HAIR that requires taming, but I think I can handle that without making a klutz of myself. Again, when I have the time to do such things. Right now my time is eaten up by scouring "The Hounds of Tindalos" word by word, sentence by sentence, trying to pick out any figures of speech I happen to come across and hoping I'll be able to draw something meaningful from all of my scouring. A lot of time is also spent trying to figure out what the hell the difference is between an asyndeton and a brachylogia. I mean, seriously, there is *extremely little* difference. Urgh.

One of my classmates made a good point. A lot of the figures of speech names? They sound like the names of dinosaurs that didn't make it. Anapodoton. Antiptosis. Hypozeuxis. Polysyndeton. Chiasmus. Pleonasm. Catachresis. Just to name a few. Rar.

Hey! Anna (who you probably don't know) got me to read Death Gate--she gave me the first book a few months ago and over spring break I read the whole thing--it's a very good series.

Apparently Wicked, the book, can be summed up as being "too long".

I know a lot of people who adore Wicked wholeheartedly. I read it a few months back and came out with a mixed opinion. I -really- loved some bits and quite disliked others. It's all a matter of taste, though, I think. Expectations, too. I seriously went in expecting The Best Book Ever and it didn't quite make it for me.

And... PONIES! PONIES! PONIES! *cough* Okay, I'm calm now.

I've liked what I've read of the series so far(I'm up through the fourth book). Hopefully I'll be able to finish it over the summer. That way I'll have put a small dent in my twelve-mile long reading list. ^^;

But either way, I guess I'll see about Wicked.
