We have a tunnel on the uni (technically two, but that's beside the point) that runs under the railroad tracks that bisect the main campus. Its main purpose is to keep students from getting regularly run over by Amtrak. It has a greater significance to the student body, however, as a university Canvas for Whatever. Dubbed the Free Expression Tunnel, it's a place where students can paint on the walls without fear of getting slapped with a vandalism charge. It's regularly used to announce various things, to act as a canvas for graffiti artists, and a place to write swear words (once upon a time, when I went to the uni open house as a wee high schooler, [livejournal.com profile] aneles drew a tiny cheese on the wall as we walked through it <3).

On occasion, though, it becomes a place for people to paint some win. See, [livejournal.com profile] lighthawk and I sometimes get together for lunch, and we take the tunnel to get to the dining hall. Today, as we passed through it, I noticed with utter glee that somebody had decided to paint a Dalek in the Free Expression Tunnel. WIN. Although I think it's a little bit sad of me that I not only noticed what type of Dalek it was (Supreme Dalek), but that the coloring was wrong. They have gold accents, not white!

I am such a dork. XD

You know your family is a bunch of geeks when you all stand in the middle of the grocery store parking lot at dusk and have an intense debate over which planets you're currently seeing in the night sky ("That's Mercury!" "No, that can't be Mercury! It's too high! It must be Mars." "Then what's that above it?" "That's Venus!" "No, it can't be Venus! The really bright one way overhead is Venus!").

After reloading Starry Night, we confirmed that we were seeing Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury in the sky all at the same time. Pretty awesome. <3

*cackles with glee*

I have to get myself to bed, but first I want to point out the newest xkcd. Always nice to get some hilarious bio love. <3 <3 <3

Also, because I can do it now, GIP. <3

Well, I got my evaluations back for this time around. I think they might actually have been better than last time, which would be nice. The biggest thing sounds like that I'm still quite nervous when I get up there, and it shows. One student said I was the most nervous TA he had had. My nerves and I have got to find a way to get along, if I'm gonna have any hope of improving.

On a different note, it appears to be graduation day here, judging by the fact that I saw a professor wandering around in cap and gown. Once again, I've proven I've achieved full grad student status by the fact that I'm haunting the school on graduation day, when I'm not graduating. Lo, I have become a wraith. XD

And also,

Holy crap, Star Trek movie.

I'm...really not sure what to make of it, honestly. The first few moments made me think something more along the lines of "Wait wait WAIT. Is this Star Trek or Dukes of Hazzard?". It was also weird trying to place new faces over old and familiar characters. It's like it didn't quite fit, especially since it seems like Kirk and who I *think* was McCoy look an awful lot alike. Scotty, however, seemed like he'd be great fun. I always liked Scotty. <3 And I will admit that hearing the red alert sound and that it was a proper red alert sound made me a bit tingly. XD;; I think I'll have to go see it, if nothing else than to see what they did with it.

While picking up food yesterday, Mum and I saw an honest to goodness DeLorean in the parking lot. Cue me having a little squee moment over seeing one, considering my love for the "Back to the Future" movies. I didn't believe it was one at first because, well, how often do they show up in grocery store parking lots? Sadly, I didn't see a crazy white-haired old guy or a guy wearing a life preserver running out of the Food Lion with Oreos and Coca-Cola before driving off to the 17th century.

What really amazed me was how SMALL they are. Seriously. Mum's Civic is large compared to it. I guess they look much larger on a movie/TV screen. XD I would've loved to have seen it in motion, or at least seen the doors open. XD

DOCTOR WHO TONIGHT. OMG. FIVE MORE HOURS. SQUEE.
