So, due to a combination of Eien-chan offering and my father insisting, I took a brief break from the hecticness of exams earlier tonight. Now's probably a good time to do it anyway. I just finished plant phys today and I'll be spending the rest of tonight, tomorrow, and the weekend getting my final paper ready to go and studying for drama. I'm in a good state to not think about exams for an hour and a half.

Apparently something Eien-chan likes to do is go down to the local Mexican restaurant for Cinco de Mayo, and invited me along. And I figured, you know, I'm going to have to eat either way. If I had to pick, I'd rather eat with people I like being around and getting a decent meal rather than sitting in the dining hall by myself. It's a pretty good restaurant too--good food(and normally I'm not a person who goes for Mexican), not too expensive, good service, the usual things people look for in a restaurant. So he swings by after work, grabs me, and we walk down to the restaurant to meet up with a couple friends of ours.

First item of the night--the restaurant was packed. Okay, we say, well, there's always its downtown counterpart, which is the same restaurant, only bigger, which means it may not be so packed. So we all pile into [livejournal.com profile] lighthawk's car and drive downtown. However, we soon discover that this restuarant is *also* packed. Well, okay, fine, we say. We're here, we're hungry, we'll wait. Thankfully we wait only about five, ten minutes before we get to a table, which is nice. I think it was partially because we were comparably a small group compared to some of the herds in there. So we get in, sit down, and begin to notice two things:

1.) Not only is it packed, but it is loud. We could barely hear each other talk over the din. At one point I suggested we use sugar packets as semaphore flags to signal to each other.
2.) Apparently the loudest table in the restaurant is the one we're right next to.

Through surreptitious glances, we decided that this group was probably a group of my fellow classmates that had finished exams(or perhaps had an exam the next day), and it became pretty obvious that they had had not just a few, but several. Heck, there was something like two pitchers of beer on the table, and that was only about fifteen minutes after we showed up. We were also very thankful to notice that they appeared to have a DD with them because frankly, I would not want to be on the same road as them. Through the course of the meal we observed some rather interesting things. Firstly, they had a tendency to break out into song. Loudly and off key. We also heard a lot of "Ole!"s from them througout our meal.

Secondly, apparently we weren't the only ones offended by their loudness. At one point a lady from one of the other tables came and apparently chewed them out, saying basically to the effect that they should try and keep it down because there are those of us who are trying to talk to each other. They quieted down for precisely thirty seconds.

Thirdly, I didn't even know one could get strawberry daquiris by the pitcher. Apparently the way they decided to finish it off was by getting one of the guys to pour the remainders of the pitcher down the mouth of one of the girls. I feel bad for the wait staff that had to deal with them. They probably gave them a lousy tip when they left too. And yes, we arrived, ate, and left all within the time they were there, and they still hadn't left. There's going to be a bunch of hangovers tomorrow morning.

But in the end, I got food, I got to be with people briefly, and in a way the antics of that group was a bit fun to watch. However, I'd rather celebrate Seis de Mayo next year. ^^;;

I would also like to suggest a moment of silence for the potted plant that committed suicide, most likely because of their debauchery, and brought a blessed 0.5 seconds of quiet to the restaurant when it crashed to the floor. Poor plant, you will not be forgotten. ;_;
