A while back, I mourned the fact that my favorite nursery closed for good. I wasn't certain we were going to find a nursery that was going to be half as good, and would have to rely on hardware stores from now on for plants. I discovered today that I've been proven wrong, as we have found another nursery in our vicinity that is incredibly shiny. Sadly, it is a little more expensive than the old nursery, but it more than makes up for that in the fact that it is closer than the old one, and it is HUGE. It has tons and tons of plants and trees and things. I think we only saw maybe a third of what was there. I could probably spend a whole afternoon there. Actually, I think seeing a small portion was probably a good thing. Otherwise, I might have died of ferret shock.
While there, we went about getting some more hostas and periwinkles for the shade area, a lungwort, and a bluebell, which made me really happy. It's the first place I've seen bluebells being sold. So hopefully we'll be able to put them in tomorrow. The prices from this place are still a little bothersome, though. I guess if I'm wanting something that's rather common, I could go and get them from one of the hardware stores, since it'd be cheaper there, and save the nursery for the really neat things.
I've decided that this is one of my favorite times of year. The weather isn't too bad(save today, with the 90 degree weather. blah), and all the plants are going nuts. I love it. <3 <3 The hostas we planted a few weeks ago are doing fairly well. I'm a little concerned about one of them though. The tips of its leaves were all wilted and unhappy. I'm not sure if it's due to the heat, or if it's getting too much light where it is. I watered it before the temperature skyrocketed today, and I watered it again after we got back and noticed it wasn't looking too well, so I don't think it's for want of water. If it's too much light, then hopefully that'll be fixed once the maple over it leafs out completely. It's been hitting the snooze button for the past few months, and it's finally decided to stop stalling and go about putting out leaves. Lazy thing.
In any case though, I'm happy I found a new nursery to go to. <3 <3
