Avocadocumentary: Weeks 32/33--Paparazzi

Avobaby seems to be doing well. I'm not sure if the newest leaves have topped out or not, but it looks like it's already thinking about some more leaves. I worry about whether or not Avobaby can handle more. Every time I accidentally bump it, it feels like Avobaby's gonna snap in two. It makes me almost afraid to consider putting it into a bigger pot, for fear the stem couldn't handle it. Although, maybe I should bump it more often. Maybe that way it'd be more inclined to make a thicker stem.
If you look behind Avobaby, you'll see that it has accquired some more roommates, in the form of the three bonsai hopefuls that I've got growing. Apparently the first year the bonsai hopefuls should be allowed to grow all they want, so I transferred them into bigger pots in hopes that they'll take advantage of it and grow big and strong. Not sure what to call them. I could just call them Larry, Curly, and Moe. ^_^;
On a side note, in a few weeks I'll be leaving for Florida. This means I'll have to leave Avobaby behind while I'm vacationing. I'm not quite sure what to do about Avobaby while I'm gone. I know it wouldn't appreciate being left without water for a week and a half, and I don't think flooding it is the answer. I wonder if I'll need to hire a babysitter. I know I'll need one for the vegetables. Maybe I could persuade the person to water Avobaby and a few of the other water-loving houseplants, like Swampy. I don't like the idea of leaving Avobaby in the care of someone not familiar with it, though. I don't know that I'd have a choice. *fretfret*
But, onto happier things! I shall now switch into annoying media reporter/celebrity stalker mode.

FLASH! Rumors are flying that the long reclusive Hal is showing signs of a baby bump. In this exclusive picture we've uncovered possible evidence that a second avocado may be on the way, as indicated in the circle. Is it true, or is it just weight gain? Is it possible Hal has gotten plastic surgery? Later, we'll have an interview with the pot that's been holding Hal for these past several months, and its dark secret!
But in the meantime, we have to wonder, what will this mean for older sibling Avobaby? Is it on the up and out, or will a baby brother bolster its reputation? To answer these questions, we went to the plants on the street!

SWAMPY: I think it'll ruin Avobaby. Hal's new and fresh and young, and he's going to push his sibling right out of the way when he makes his debut. He's got talent, that one.
VIOLET: I don't really think much of it. Hal's emergence is probably all a rumor anyway. Besides, I'm more fond of Claude.

GINGER: I've lived with Avobaby for a couple months now, and I gotta tell you, Avobaby loves its little brother, and will do everything to give him a good start. I think it'll do nothing but bolster Avobaby's reputation.

FRED: Are you kidding? Hal's going to totally upturn Avobaby and beat it into the ground! It'll be a massive usurpation! Trust me, the age of Hal is coming!

BIG PHIL: WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? DON'T YOU HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO THAN TO SLOBBER OVER WHO'S GOTTEN SURGERY AND WHO HASN'T AND WHO'S DATING WHO? VOYEURS!!
More news as it breaks!

Date: 2007-07-04 10:14 pm (UTC)also, i have avocado growth....what i thought was a bad crack was a good crack...then a little bump...and now about an inch of purplish-brown leaves just peeking over the top of the seed. WOOHOO!! i had no idea how slow these things grew. i bet that's why everyone says it's so hard to grow an avocado from the seed...they just don't wait dang long enough. seriously, i think it took a month and a half just for the seed to crack...
