Meeeeeeeep.
Sep. 11th, 2007 07:59 pm1. Comment to this post with the name of a character that I write in fic or RP.
2. I will comment telling you the following:
a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
b. One of his/her best traits.
c. One of his/her worst traits.
d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
e. The story/chapter/paragraph/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character.
f. My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.

c.) Well, being evil kinda puts a kink in things. XD He's also just a leeeeettle bit batshit.
d.) Since starting his revisions for the game, I haven't really done any writing with him. I did do a bit beforehand, and typically, I found him fairly easy to write. He's pretty casual and relaxed, and that kinda helps with writing him.
e.) Hm, I think I'm going to have to skip this for the moment. I'll get back to you once I do some writing with him in the new form. ^_^;;
f.) Hoohah! I will hopefully have plans for Zaafiel! I need to get him onto the wikispaces, and then I can start doing some writing with him. I want to do some writing with Katie at some point to explore his and Raphael's relationship, and I'd really love to do some things with Evil!Zaafiel throughout the Spiral. It'd also be fun, I think, to do some stories in MD featuring either Aria thinking she's being 'haunted' by Zaafiel (thanks to reading his journals and triggering all sorts of buried bad vibes), or some actual journal entries. They're probably great reading. XDD

XD She has a secret cache of inner strength that, even when she wants to run and hide and be her usual shy self, she can pull upon that pool and do what needs to be done. Ruchiel is convinced she is kinda useless and weak, but she's stronger than she thinks she is.
c.) The poor girl has no self-confidence to speak of. XD The whole interaction thing makes her very nervous, and has a tendency to hold herself back because she feels she can't do what needs to be done well. It takes coaxing to get her out of her shell.
d.) I think Ruchiel is one of my harder characters to write, because I've had her for so long, and I really want to get her right. The other problem is that she's so shy and withdrawn that I really have to reign myself in when writing, because I come up with bits of dialogue, but I have to not use them because they're simply not what Ruchiel would say.
e.) I think "Laundry Day" is a good representation of who Ruchiel is. It has her awkwardness and her uncertainty, but it also shows her ability to recognize she's needed and rise to the challenge. I think I managed to find that balance between the two in that story.
f.) There are lots of things I want to do with Ruchiel. I've got several stories in varying degrees of completion involving her. In particular, I want to do a couple of introspective stories involving her thoughts at pivotal points in the plot, such as just after she and Alexei get mystically tied together and what the implications might be, and her thoughts whilst talking to a comatose Metatron about everything that's happening with the other characters. She's been in my head a long time, and stories and developments continually pop up. ^_^;;

Date: 2007-09-12 11:13 pm (UTC)a.) Well, Miniel first latched on to me while I was thinking about some possible BC kidlets for Ruchiel and Alexei. Being the eternal virgin that Ruchiel is/was, having not gotten any ever in 5000+ years, I figured that her first encounter might actually cause a sort of manifestation of her newly freed virginness. Originally, Miniel was going to be a girl, being, to me, the most logical choice for an angel of virginity. In fact, it was for that reason that I realized it would be about twelve times more fun if Miniel was a boy. And when you top an innately pure sphere with raging boy hormones, you're guaranteed a good time. Things just went from there, until Miniel was somebody I had to create and write.
b.) Despite all his neuroses, Miniel is a very responsible, protective individual. If he feels that you're under his care, and realizes that you're in need of him, he'll move heaven and earth for you. If you can get past the fact that he has issues with eating chicken, he's a great guy to have around.
c.) Well. Dolls without pants make him nervous. Girls wearing skirts that show their *ankles* make him nervous. Chicken breasts make him nervous. Bikinis make him very nervous. Basically, anything even remotely promiscuous make him nervous, which makes him a bit hard to be around. XD
d.) Hm, I find Minnie to be simultaneously easy and difficult to write. He's great fun to write, and I love coming up with new things for him to find indecent, but there's more to him than just that. Like his mother, he possesses a sort of inner strength, which allows him to be indignant over tanktops without crumpling under the pressure to just accept it. I try to convey that once in a while, but it's not easy to do.
e.) I think "Coping" is a good example of Miniel, particularly how much he cares for his sisters, even when they do horribly indecent things. An excerpt:
"She was too busy being caught in her whirlwind of thoughts and emotions at first to notice the feeling of a pair of arms wrapping around her and holding her close to a comforting body while a gentle voice said, "Shh, it's okay Shemmie. It's okay. I'm sorry."
The feeling of being supported by a familiar presence, compounded with the smell of old halls and reams of paper, proved to be too much for her. Without warning, Shemiel wrapped her arms around Miniel as best she could, clinging onto him as she let go, the tears coming in small streams down her face while she sobbed for all she was worth. Miniel carefully stroked her back, ignoring the fact that she was significantly dampening his shirt. "It's not fair," she sobbed almost unintelligibly, "it's not fair!"
It was a good while before Shemiel had cried to the point where she had no tears left in her, still clinging to her older brother, hicupping softly. Eventually, she pulled away from him, rubbing the tears away from her eyes with the palm of her hand. Miniel tried for a smile, which came out uneasy and lopsided. "Feel better?"
"Yeah, I guess so," was the weak reply. She smiled bitterly. "I'm surprised you didn't walk out on me."
Miniel raised his eyebrows at her. "Shemmie, you offend me. I wouldn't do that."
"Wouldn't you, when you have a crazed pregnant woman on your hands?"
"I have an upset sister, that's all." Miniel replied. He fell silent, looking uncomfortably at his shoes. Eventually, he looked upwards at her again. "Say, if you want, I can go down to Tadhiel and see if she could possibly let go of a canteloupe. I think there's a rule that says that food accomodations can be made in the case of a pr--a pr--a...you know."
Mentally, Shemiel couldn't help but shake her head. Still Minnie."
f.) Well, I want to figure out what exactly Miniel ends up doing in BC, even if it's censoring movies, and whether or not he ever actually does give up his virginity, and what it does to him. I also want to explore him more in AoA, such as how he relates to his sisters' kids, how he relates to his own kid, and how he relates to Briah. Not to mention Arbiter Minnie is always fun. <3

Date: 2007-09-12 11:49 pm (UTC)a.) To be honest, I'm not completely certain what spawned Zlar. Maybe she really was a mutation. XD She started to form in my head whilst I was working in the basement of the Uni's horticulture building, wherein I was thinking about how I wanted a character to come in from the outside for AoA, and I thought it would be fun to have a character whose sphere was mutation. So I started thinking about that, and then snatches of "The Secret Garden" started to go through my head, and that's when things really started to take off. Soon, I had an impish feral gardener who grows oranges that taste like beef on my hands. XD
b.) Well, she's great at parties. XD Zlar is dedicated to the act of having fun, and loves having people join her in on it. She also enjoys people in general, and loves seeing all the different forms people take (as long as they're fun and not boring). The girl has no fear.
c.) There's the aforementioned no fear. XD That's gotten her into trouble at times. She's also pretty nastily territorial, and isn't afraid to exact some vengeance and make nasty booby traps for people attempting to tresspass into what she considers her zone.
d.) Unfortunately, I haven't really gotten the chance to write with Zlar yet, so I can't really say how easy or hard she is to write. I imagine she's going to be pretty easy, though. Her general 'girls just wanna have fun' demeanor and her wild ways means there aren't too many restraints to what she might say or do.
e.) Ditto for the above. ^_^;;
f.) Hm, there are some things I wanna write with Zlar. For instance, I'd like to do some exploration of how she stalks Qemuel, and some of the antics she gets into, including trapping trespassers and torturing Miniel. She's a baby-eating sprite that wants to get into things. XD

Date: 2007-09-13 12:25 am (UTC)b.) Adad's capacity for love. He loves everyone and everything, and he's not araid to show it. If you ever need a pick-me-up, hang around Adad for a while. He'll be sure to brighten your mood. <3
c.) While Adad's eternal optimism is a strength, it's also a weakness for him. It's tough to be forever hopeful in the face of bleak circumstances, such as, say someone who's dying of a terminal disease, believing a miracle or something will occur right up to the very end, and then not having it followed through. It's tough on him, and if it happens too many times in a row, it starts to really get to him. That's why he ends up falling in Dis--under such terrible conditions, with no real relief, his optimism eventually just collapses.
d.) I dunno that I'd say it's easy to write Adad, but, it's more 'comfortable'. Dialogue seems to flow very easily for him, which is really nice for me, considering I don't think I write the greatest dialogue in the world. He's just a fun character to write, and I never tire of doing stories with him.
e.) "I Love You, Goodnight" is by far the story where Adad's at his most, um, Adady. XD It shows just how big of a heart he has, and how, even in the face of a lonely, horrifying death, he can still find a glimmer of light and comfort, and draw from it.
f.) I always love doing stories featuring Adad and the people he loves, be they his Mum and Dad, his Patchwork Family (Liah in particular), Liwet, Nao, or others. I'd like to do some stories involving his relationship with Liah, which is varied amongst settings and wonderfully adorable. I'd also love to explore more of his relationship with Liwet. ^_^
