Okay, so it's a little late at this point, but yeah...went to go see Little Shop on Saturday. I must say, it was quite awesome. The play on stage is DEFINITELY different from the movie, especially the ending, which kinda surprised me, despite the fact that I knew going in that it would be different. I guess I didn't realize how different. ^_^; The puppetry was just *awesome*. But well, that's kinda expected from Jim Henson productions. <3 <3 <3 I found myself liking pre-talking Audrey II better than post-talking for some reason. I think it's the visual humor that was involved. Furthermore, I thought the singing for Audrey and the three girls was fantastic. They could really sing. I find it interesting that the three girls were a little like a Greek chorus--they commented on what was going on, but they didn't necessarily interfere to any large degree. Along the same lines they seemed to be rather immune to the large things that were going on. I dunno, I thought that was neat in its own special way. Together, they kinda made up an extra character. /dramaphile babbling

On a different note, someone explain this to me: How can my drama professor get off thinking that we can write a paper on a play and comment on everything from the playwright's life and the themes of the play to whether or not it's relevant to today's society, and still keep it at 2 1/2 pages, double spaced, one inch margins? I'm holding steady at four and a half at where it is. I don't know why she does this--she seems to have issues determining the right amount of time/space for the amount of work she wants done. Case in point: One thing we all have to do at some point this semester is a chapter summary. Sounds fairly benign, but believe you me, it isn't. It involves getting up in front of the class and not only presenting a chapter outline, but a visual aid, questions for the class to answer, and an interactive class activity. Our classtime is 50 minutes. Subtract time for start-of-class formalities and we're at about 35 minutes. Just doing the chapter outline takes up all that time. And she has a couple days when more than one person is supposed to go. Shouldn't that be a big red flag that hey, maybe she's giving us too much to get through? *grumble*

I'd also like to know why she feels the need for us to do footnotes instead of a nice, simple, works cited page. I spent about half an hour tonight fighting with Word trying to get the stupid footnote function to work properly. It's total silliness. We're all used to works cited. Footnotes and works cited are just about the same thing, save that footnotes are at the bottom of each page and the works cited are all at the end. Works cited does not require any weird functions to get it to work properly. Why not just let us all do what we're used to do and do works cited? It'd certainly make my life easier. And considering the looks on my classmates' faces when she first mentioned footnotes I'm inclined to think it'd make everyone else's life easier too. But no, she wants the footnotes. *grumble*

Okay. I'm done ranting. ^_^;
