Well, I think my breeding theory has been busted. No signs of creatures creating more of themselves. But, I'm not too upset, because that was a pretty damn good episode. I mean, WOW. That was rough, in an awesome sort of way. The question of "What happens to the world when you do one tiny thing differently." is always an interesting one. It's probably also the reason why "Sliding Doors" is one of my favorite romantic comedy-type movies. Anyway, yay tangent. I was seriously loving Donna. I think out of all the companions thus far, she seems to be the most real to me. She reacts to things very naturally, and isn't afraid to show she's scared (with a bit of her trademark snark thrown in). Her panic when she learned of the beetle thing on her back was raw and made me want to hug her. And I think I was feeling some of her relief at the end when she saw the Doctor again. Was it just me, or did he seem doubly adorable at the end? Maybe it's just because he only really appeared at the very beginning and end, so I was kinda in withdrawal.

It was interesting to see Rose again. I'm looking forward to seeing how she works into everything, particularly considering her apparent ability to jump not only between dimensions, but through time. And how the heck did she hook up with UNIT anyway? Hmmm, interesting ponderances. Although, maybe it was just me, but Billie Piper's performance seemed a little lackluster. Rose seems to have lost a bit of her spunk, her original attitude popping up only at rare moments. However, maybe it's just the character herself changing. A lot seems to have happened since the last time Rose cropped up. But it seems to me that she was speaking with cotton in her mouth. Her voice sounded just a little bit garbled. Either way, she'll make the next couple of episodes interesting. And the Doctor's reaction when he realized who it was that had been helping Donna was priceless. So much emotion in two seconds. And I loved that Bad Wolf was worked in again. Gotta love Bad Wolf. <3

And I am SO excited for next week. I want it to be next Friday like RIGHT NOW. Must...learn...to warp time!

Also, a literal sign of the times: I noticed a sign at school touting an upcoming blood drive. The incentive they used to get people to come and donate: Free gas.

I'VE ALREADY DOWNLOADED THE LAST TWO EPISODES so it's hard to comment without being spoilery, but I am SO HAPPY there is somebody else I can babble about it with.

But I gotta say, Turn Left is probably one of my favorite episodes ever now. For some reason, some of my favorite Dr. Who stories are the ones when the Doctor is on the sidelines.

I love love love Donna because she is SO human. Rose had to grow on me, and I like Martha ten times more when she's with Torchwood, but Donna is tremendously natural and endearing with all of her faults and quirks.

Regarding Rose: I guess in a way she is kind of lacking that spark, especially next to somebody as spunky as Donna. But I also think that Rose as a character has been sort of elevated to almost a mythical, archetypal figure. She's not so much the ordinary, spunky, human companion that she was. The way she appears to Donna is sort of reminiscent of some benevolent spirit, so she really plays that part in this episode rather than being herself.

Also, I think she probably did to UNIT what she did to Donna, and just kind of teleported into their midst with a bigass gun one day and they went "OKAY WE SALUTE YOU NOW MA'AM."

Also, I was thinking about your breeding theory, and in retrospect, while I don't think it's a primary element in the later episodes, it DOES sort of come into play with regards to the villains. So YOU WEREN'T TOTALLY OFF. But that's all I'm gonna say about that.

ACTUALLY, what I don't get is how Rose knew the names of all the members of Torchwood there. Because I was thinking that it was safe to assume that Jack, at least, would not be in Rose's universe, since that would require him being immortal (which couldn't have happened in a universe without Rose or the Doctor, could it?). Maybe she was working with Torchwood in Donna's universe the way she was working with UNIT.

Yay for squeeing! After seeing an episode I feel the sudden need to ramble about it to anyone who'll listen long enough. XD I'm so so soooo wanting to see the last two eps. It looks like it's going to be so awesome. A couple scenes in the preview concern me, but I guess I should let it play out and hope for the best. And it has Jack! <3 I still really should see Torchwood. I wanna watch Jack and his Harem. XDD

I hadn't thought of Rose as the benevolent spirit-type, but it really makes sense. She really was more of a guiding force than a driving force in the ep. I'm hoping that maybe she gets more of herself back in the next two eps, where she isn't entirely saddled with the responsibility of driving events.

I so love Donna, I really do. 'Natural' really is a great way to describe her. She has very normal strengths and faults, and has actually been around, which is kinda refreshing. Both Rose and Martha were more the 'wide-eyed-innocent-waif' sorts. Donna's more of a worldly woman. I also love the fact that she's more than willing to dish it out to the Doctor when he needs it. XD It's also really nice to not have her fawning over the Doctor. But despite that, they still have a good, strong friendship, with some awesome banter. XD

Something I realized afterwards that was kinda neat--as much as Donna was an influence on the Doctor, he was as much of an influence on her, and it showed in her character. She was still centered on the little things, and not recognizing the big picture, like how she was leaving her job in a huff when the hospital disappeared and barely paying it mind.

It really was a great episode. I think the only other one that I can say I adored as much this season was "Planet of the Ood". The scene where Donna hears the wild Ood sing is so perfectly heartbreaking, but so well done. <3

Is it next week yet? XDDD

Jack and his Harem is a PRETTY ACCURATE DESCRIPTION. The first season is deliciously trashy and generally replaces plot with sex, while the second season is actually really well written and dark and interesting. Plus there's Jack's tea boy Ianto (you'll meet him next episode along with Gwen; I have SO been waiting for that kind of crossover, even if it's just a minor plot point).

You're right, it really shows how Donna has become a completely different person with the Doctor. It almost seems like she wavers between her old self and her new one in this episode, like how she goes running towards the Christmas Star, which I don't think she would have done before she met him.

One of my favorite Donna moments was also in "Planet of the Ood," when her first reaction on seeing an alien for the first time was to be horrified at his face, but her second was to become immediately comforting and sweet. The moment she knew the Ood was a person, she was completely uninhibited in her interactions with it. I think there's this genuine softness to her.

Definitely a refreshing change from the "innocent waif" of the other two. It's so much fun to see an actually mature woman interact with the Doctor, because he responds differently to that than he does to the younger women, and it seems to make her more of a match for him. The banter is totally the best. XD

I wanna watch it all over again now.
