I feel very VICTORIOUS now! Or maybe just Davros-like. Either way, I am excited, because I managed to get the first Dalek finished! It was my Friday project starting some time in August, and it is now finally finished. My knitting rate seems to be about one project per semester now. Either way, now I can start on the next one! I'm hoping the next one will move a little faster, now that I kinda know what I'm doing. The longest part is getting through the skirt part, between large rounds and lots of bobbles, which are basically "stalls" in the knitting. Once I get past the skirt, it knits up pretty quickly.

I present to you, Dalek Old School!

Done in soft acrylic, so he's a bit more on the cuddly side, and friendly to those of us who may or may not be allergic to wool. I'm a little worried he's understuffed, but on the other hand, a little bit of poochiness in the bottom will help make sure he stands up straight. No one likes a drunken Dalek. Or maybe they do, since it means it's less likely to exterminate you, and more likely to offer you a Guinness.

Front view! In the images associated with the pattern, the manipulator arm and the eyepiece looked more rounded. I think somehow they were sewn up so they were more spherical than cone-like, like how mine turned out. I actually think I like this a little bit better. It makes them look more plunger and eyepiece-like.

From the back! I'm a little concerned about the join areas for the neck region. Supposedly there's a way to do a jogless join so that the lines are solid. I'm going to look into that.

Dalek Old School subduing a hapless 2 liter Coke bottle, while the sugar bowl looks helplessly on. I was surprised by how huge he turned out. I mean, this is a BIG Dalek. He'd have no trouble taking on Barbie dolls.

Dalek Old school will be going to live with Eien-chan, where he can do eternal battle with Tonberry and exterminate computer bugs. I'm so happy to have my first Dalek finished. I'm not sure which one I'll do next. I know I want to do a Dalek Sek at some point, and a Happy Dalek of Love and Peace and Utter Pinkness. <3

Those of you who are on the Great Dalek List, if you have color/specific Dalek preferences, let me know so I can get the yarn! It's going to be slow-going, but I'm hoping to get Daleks to everyone who has asked for one. <3

OMG SO CUTE. XD Big is good for a plush knit Dalek -- makes it even more cuddly! <3

That's great! I hope you can do the cardboard Tardis too, though I think you'll need to enlarge the plans somewhat...

Well, a proper Tardis *would* be bigger on the inside...XD

I'd like to do it if I can, though! Although I have a few more Daleks to stitch up first. ^_^;

Actually, I'm tempted to steal your picture and send it back to you as a three-panel comic.

"Your Diet Coke shall fall before the Black Dalek!"
"I AM the Black Dalek you idiot!"
"Oh...whoa...hey, Boss, great disguise!"

That or "All your Diet Coke are belong to us!"
(hand smacks the Dalek)
"Thanks...I needed that..."

Either that or somehow splice a few together.
Dalek: "Whoa! Hey! I love you, Man!"
Victum: "What the...what are you drinking?!" (Pulls bottle off the plunger to read the label) "Guinness of the Daleks"?
Dalek: "Vintage 1970! Watch me catch a peanut in my mouth...hey...where's my mouth...?" (Dalek collapses).

DO YOU KNOW THAT I TOTALLY DID? When I showed up on Eien-chan's doorstep yesterday, I had Dalek Old School in my arms and was all, "We're here! <3 <3 <3" XD

This is absolutely amazing. I am totally enthralled (especially the last photo which is totally epic). Excellent work!

I showed it to Selena + Bryson and they both also think it is great and Selena is looking forward to her (red) one!

I know this is several months late, but someone on my friend's list knitted a Dalek washcloth (http://www.flickr.com/photos/darjeelingtea/3445140168/) and it made me immediately think about your project. I thought you'd enjoy seeing it.
