Ugh, sinuses, you are making me hate you. Seriously. Making it difficult to breathe is not a good way to win friends and influence people. At least my fever's gone. Fevers are what really make me feel like I belong on the shoe of scum on the bottom of someone's shoe.

Oh, something I forgot to mention that happened at Animazement. On Saturday I wore my science shirt that Eien-chan got me for Christmas. I got about twelve thousand compliments on it, which made me a very pleased little Ru. ^_^

And finally, more drabbly goodness!

The boy was a tiny ten-month-old, with pale skin, a mop of feathery ruddy hair, and wide, interested eyes. His smallness was evident when most adults held him, but when placed in the lap of Asiel, he suddenly seemed dwarfed by a giant. Despite the immenseness of the man, and the concerns that usually arose with putting something small and delicate in the presence of something large and strong, Aliphriel was unconcerned, contented to explore his immediate surroundings, and occasionally test out the range of his voice while being gently supported by Asiel's massive hands.

"Has he been eating well?" Asiel asked the thin man beside him.

Miniel never took his eyes off his son for long, leaning forward with an elbow on his knee as Aliphriel balanced himself across Asiel's leg, currently engaged in inspecting the material of his pants, wiggling his little body occasionally. Miniel smiled. "He's a bottomless pit. He ate a whole mashed potato the other day," (Aliphriel emitted a "Gaaaaah-mah!" in agreement.) "I know children are normally hungry a lot--the kids in the dormitories usually are, but Aliph is putting them to shame. I didn't think someone so small could eat that much."

Asiel grunted his approval. "I can. I seem to recall his father had similar eating habits."

Miniel's ears turned pink. "I didn't start that early!"

"But you were bottomless, nevertheless," Asiel retorted flatly. "It would have come from somewhere." Having given Asiel's pants the seal of approval, Aliphriel proceeded to inspect the hands that were holding him steady. Obligingly, Asiel shifted his thumb, allowing the boy to grip it with little round hands. "He certainly seems inquisitive."

"You don't know the half of it," Miniel said, "It seems like I can barely take my eyes off him ever since he learned to crawl. I'm afraid of what'll happen when he starts using his wings. He wants to get into everything." He lowered his voice. "I'm worried that it'll carry on when he gets older. I hope he doesn't get overly inquisitive about...other things."

Asiel leveled a hard look at the man. "If he does, he does. In fact, he most likely will. It's natural," he added when the color drained from Miniel's face, "The trick is to not overreact when it happens. That's many years down the road, though. I think breaking his arm climbing on something or ruining his best clothes with mud would be more immediate worries."

Miniel frowned, his brow furrowed in thought. "I suppose. I just hope he doesn't learn any bad habits from some of the other kids."

"Then it'll be your job to make sure he understands what's proper and what isn't," Asiel replied, his tone reverting to one he used with Miniel when he was younger, when he was a timid boy and the most innocuous things, like skirts and chicken breasts, would distress him, "You of all people will be able to accomplish that." Oblivious to the conversation about him, Aliphriel thoughtfully stuck Asiel's thumb in his mouth. "For now, I think getting him walking should come first."

The angel of virginity laughed softly, running his fingers through bright red hair. "And that'll be the last chance for a decent sit-down I'll get." Aliphriel chose that moment to make himself more noticeable, letting out an insistent whimper. Miniel was immediately at attention, assessing his son's distress with the accuracy that only Aliphriel's parents could provide. "Oh, he probably wants to change positions. Do you want me to take him?"

"If that's all he wants, I can shift him."

"Well, yes, but you need to--"

Asiel turned his head towards the other man as he picked Aliphriel up to turn him around. "Miniel. I've handled babies before. I've delivered them. I think I know how to handle a fussy boy without turning him on his head." Asiel had barely finished the sentence before Aliphriel's whimpering ceased. With an insistent coo, two little hands shot forward and grabbed the angel of healing's ear in a firm grip that seemed inappropriate for such a small child.

Miniel bit his lip, trying to hold back laughter at Aliphriel's new acquisition. "See, Aliph's recently developed an interest in faces. Ears are his favorite at the moment, and you need to be careful he doesn't get the opportunity to latch on."

Aliphriel let out a little laugh, squeezing harder. Asiel's face twitched--some strange combination of pain and amusement. Nevertheless, he spoke with utter seriousness. "That. Is a bit of information I would have liked a little earlier. Thanks for letting me know."

I'm glad you like! :D It's fun to write a situation where Minnie is not vying for the WORST PARENT EVAR award with regards to Aliph. <3
