Ru at the Movies: Ponyo
Sep. 6th, 2009 11:48 pmMy one sentence review of "Ponyo":
The most adorable movie I've seen in a long time, and quite possibly the most adorable movie I've seen ever.
And now for more sentences. SERIOUSLY ADORABLE. Talk about your feel-good films. I think I was, at minimum, grinning through most of the movie. It's sweet and cute, with lots of adorableness (Ponyo's sisters spring immediately to mind, although there are about ten thousand other sources of cuteness throughout the film), some hilarious moments, and a really nice story. The dubbing was awesome too, as it usually is with Miyazaki films (Liam Neeson as Fujimoto was just kind of awesome). Anyway, I think it's a good movie to watch when you're feeling down. I think now, between this, the Disney version of The Little Mermaid, and the original Andersen tale, Ponyo's my favorite rendition.
My recommendation: Go see it. Right now. It will warm the cockles of your heart.
On a side note, the blocking seems to have worked! I now have a much larger piece of fabric in which you can very easily see the lace pattern. YAY.
