Well, my parents convinced me to come home over the weekend, citing the arguements that 1.) I'll be mentally better for it. 2.) There are places in the house where I can hole myself up and be relatively undisturbed whilst I work. While they would've been okay with it if I stayed at school over the weekend, I think they're right that it was a good idea for me to come home. I'm not as stir crazy as I might've been, and I've actually ripped a humongous chunk out of my final paper. I think that it's actually at a point where, if I had to turn it in right now, it'd probably be presentable. Which is good. I think I'm going to push that aside for right now though so I can concentrate on my plant phys final, which is on Thursday. All I have to say is, hooray for non-cumulative exams.

I think creative chaffing has sent in big time. It always happens to me during about the last month or so of school, and really comes to a head during exams. I've got something like twelve things running around in my head that I want to do, mostly writing things, and I can't do any of them because I'm stuck trying to study for exams. So they stew. And beat against each other. And *demand* that I get them out, but of course I can't because I'm busy dealing with school stuff, and it makes me go ;__; I'm definitely glad I'll have almost two weeks before summer school starts so I can relieve some of that chaffing.

On the natural side of things, the mulberry tree that we planted in the yard about three years ago has croaked. ;_; I'm not quite sure what happened to it, but we did an autopsy after we uprooted it and discovered that while the top part of the graft was dead, the bottom was still alive. Which sucks. I took a look at the branches, and noticed that they had mutiple Something Funnies growing on them. Some of it looked like little teeny tiny rice bits, and some looked like orange dots, and some looked like algae. Maybe it was just lichens, but somehow I doubt it. It was probably a fungus of some sort that killed the top part. And for some reason, thinking about it makes me feel all itchy. o_O

Though I am sad that it died, because it was a pretty tree(even if it did have a penchance for being top heavy), my parents found a cute little Japanese magnolia to take its place. I hope it isn't too late in the season to have planted it, because I like Japanese magnolias a lot, and would be sad if it died too. ;_;

Also, we have a robin's nest in the big giant bush next to our house, within perfect watching distance. I've been spending my working breaks watching the parents come and feed the baby chicks. They're wonderfully cute, even if they are scruffy-looking. They make cute peeping noises and when one of the parents shows up, they all go *POING* and stick straight up. I can just imagine the dialogue:

"Feed me! Feed ME!!"
"Okay, fine, HERE. You damn kids, you're so ungrateful. I work all day for you and when I come home all you do is badger me."
"Aw, mom, worms again?"
"YES, worms again. Eat it, or you'll get nothing and like it."
"Mom, mom! He was getting on my side of the nest again! Tell him to stop it!"
"Shut your mouth and eat your food."

Or something to that effect. I should stop making entries late at night when I'm going into sleepy mode. I get rambly.

mulberries are EVIL plants. they are actually quite hard to get rid of. so look upon this death as a good thing. i know they're pretty, but...when the birds get at the seeds, they poop them everywhere and then you end up with little mulberry trees everywhere and they just WONT GO AWAY!!! my neighbour got an ornamental weeping mulberry about 5 years ago...now we have several mulberries growing around our yard. if you guys didn't get all of the living roots out (and they were actually mulberry) then you might end up with shoots coming up. X_x hopefully the magnolia will do well, they're much prettier and don't stain the ground mulberry-purple. :D
