I keep meaning to link to this, and DARN IT I'm gonna do it now!

We went to Animazement this year, and as always, we went to Anime Hell, and as always, it was quite a trip. XD They've posted the lineup of videos here in case anyone wants to have a personal look into the depths of hell!

It was a mixed bag of things this year. Since it's the 20th anniversary of Animazement, they also included some old favorites, which was interesting to see, as some of them were from before I started attending hell (either because I hadn't started attending Animazement yet, or because I didn't drive and had to leave early so my parents could pick me up).

I think some of my favorites were Death Metal (because I appreciate that the artifacts of Satan would come with an aptitude test), the Orange Range music video for "Sushi" (because SUSHI, and also it's a fun bouncy song), and Double King (easily my second favorite thing of the night. My final review of it after it finished was "Oh my god. It's the life and times of the world's biggest asshole."). Easily my most favorite thing was the Hebocon update. I enjoyed the first Hebocon installment when it was shown a couple of years ago, and it was nice to see that it's still going. It also has SUCH a good message, in that it encourages people to try something new, even when those first few tries are going to suck, because, you know, you're a beginner.

Overall, not a bad showing!

ANIMAZEMENT TOMORROW. :D :D :D

SO excited. I dunno why. Maybe because I'm ready for a break from measuring specimens, maybe because I'm really looking forward to things like Anime Hell and the hilarity that is the art auction. And apparently the folks that do the musical every year are doing one based on Phoenix Wright?

Either way, ANIMAZEMENT. Oh CRAP, I have to finish packing. And make sure I know where I'm going so I don't get lost and end up in a ditch somewhere downtown. Whenever I get lost I automatically assume that the end result will be me in a ditch. XD

SEE YOU ON SUNDAY!

One more addition to the con report. Some of the AMVs were put up online, so I thought I'd share. <3

Bicycle! Short, but cute. <3 I didn't realize Queen did a song about bicycles. XD

Ninja Party! SPASTIC. That's the best word I can describe for it. Entirely spastic. I think a couple of brain cells were pulled during this AMV, that's how bizarre it is.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! I think the newest Hitchhiker's Guide trailer is probably amongst my favoritest trailers of all time, so the fact that it was made into an AMV made me squee. Ein as Marvin is also adorable. <3

I'll Make a Man Out of You! I forgot just how awesome this song is. It's extremely well done too, which is why I'm glad it won a prize. <3 It got the entire audience singing.

I am done with the con for another year! It was great fun, even though there was no musical, sadly, and I didn't get to go to the Japanese hair braiding panel like I wanted to. Parking was also INSANE, and at one point made me panic, as I got into a situation where some IDIOT had parked illegally so I couldn't go forward, and I couldn't see behind me well enough to go backward (and was also blocked a lot by cars). I eventually needed bailing out. I do feel somewhat vindicated in that the Idiot Van got some nice big orange violation stickers on it. Serves them right for making me panic horribly in the parking lot.

But there was still lots of fun to be had. The music videos were hilarious, using everything from the "Can-Can song" to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trailer. There was one using Coldplay's "Fix You" to Howl's Moving Castle that was really nice, and there was a video featuring the song "I'll Make a Man Out of You" that got the entire room singing. XD

I also got copious amounts of SWAG. There was a booth selling soundtracks at a good price, which I raped and pillaged not once, but twice. I also got some awesome-lovely shirts, including "The Cake is a Lie" and a shirt with K-9 on it (Oh, on the subject of Doctor Who, I was tickled pink to see somebody go as the Tenth Doctor, complete with Converses. And as we were leaving, we were given a flyer that said "VOTE SAXON" which also tickled me endlessly. XD). New for me this year was that I bought art, in the form of really cool foil bookmarks. I also partook in the art auction, which was the first time I ever participated in an auction-like buying setting. SO NERVEWRACKING. I did manage to get the two things I wanted though--a set of two hand made bags (including one in sushi print! <3) and a really gorgeous peacock-themed picture featuring a random, but so well-drawn anime girl. I've actually been finding she's been getting my juices flowing regarding Crater. Makes me want to work on her some more. <3

Finally on the list of New Things Ru Did at the Con, I saw Anime Hell for the first time. Anime Hell is...interesting. It's lots of different and strange things that, well, I don't think most people would see normally. A couple of samplings from that that I found particularly awesome:

Sulphur! It's edumacational! By far my favoritest thing from the evening. It's apparently part of a series, and at first looked very legitimate. It isn't. XD It had me HOWLING. Seriously. I was crying laughing.

Danzing! NOT WORK SAFE. At least the video itself isn't. The song, however, is freakin' catchy and fun. I DARE you not to want to at least wriggle around while listening to it.

Christmas Cards! A bit of Terry Gilliam animation. The Three Wise Men are by far the awesomest. <3

Emergency Broadcast Network! I originally wasn't going to share this, but I decided to, so you all can share in the pain. This made me want to CRAWL UNDER THE CHAIR. I watched the first couple moments of it to make sure it's what I thought it was, and it still started to wig me out. I think the circles contribute a lot to the wig-outedness factor.

There were other things too, like old 50's educational shorts, Japanese professional wrestlers vs. the world champion: a ladder, the really kinda freaky Japanese rock video featuring MEAT, and scary Bill animation. Oh, and Super President and Hobo with a Shotgun. And the ever classic Godzilla vs. Bambi.

All in all, a productive and fun con. ^_^
