Eien-chan, his brother, [livejournal.com profile] lighthawk and I went to go see Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert tonight. I went the year before last(I wanted to go last year, but biochemistry had me under its thumb), and like then, it was decidedly AWESOME. It was a very cool show, with multicolored fire and laser-y goodness and fireworks(which went off right by where we were sitting. It startled me enough that I think if there wasn't an armrest in the way, I would have jumped right into Eien-chan's lap.) and, of course, really awesome music. It really makes me want to break out my "Christmas Eve and Other Stories" CD and listen to it again. I guess it might be considered still a little too early for Christmas music, but this is awesomely neat Christmas music, and hey, it happens only once a year, so I'll make an exception. ^_^

I think what made it really enjoyable for me was the band's enthusiasm. Admittedly, I don't go to very many concerts, but I don't think I would've enjoyed it nearly as much if they weren't into what they were playing. The band was having fun, the singers seemed to be having fun, and the narrator, who sat on a stool slightly off to the side when he wasn't speaking, was having so much fun that he was hilarious to watch when he was sitting there. He would be air guitaring along with the band, and of course a couple of them would occasionally come over and jam with him. And I would also like to point out that Chris Caffery is quite a ham. XD

By far one of the coolest things they did was when they played a song off of the non-Christmas album they're making(they were selling T-shirts that coincided with the album. Sooooo pretty, but I need to save my money to buy presents for people), a TSO-style remake of "O Fortuna" that sounded insanely cool. I think I may have to get the album when it comes out just for that one song. But anyway, before they started the song, they had people with cell phones turn theirs on and wave them in the air. When they turned out the lights, the lights from all the cell phones ended up looking like when you have an arena of people holding lighters, but with a much niftier, starrier effect. So there was that, with a rockish version of "O Fortuna". I really should have turned mine on and added to the cell phone-lighter effect, since it looked like fun, but that would have required fishing in my purse for it, and I was too busy going "oooooooooooooooo".

But in any case, it was a very awesome experience, and I'm definitely planning on going again next year. <3 <3 <3 <3
