Well, I just had an incredibly tasty lunch.

Mum and I somehow got onto the subject of the tomato soup in the pantry, and she suggested to me that it might be fun to make grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch today. Well, having never made grilled cheese before, I wasn't completely sure what I was doing, and was kinda tentative about how to proceed. But I think I did okay with it, aside from probably putting too much butter on the bread, and it not turning out completely neat and pretty. But I quickly forgot about these though, because I was too busy realizing that grilled cheese and tomato soup taste SO DAMN GOOD together. I mean, I like tomato soup fine and all, but I didn't realize it could be elevated to DELICIOUS status when some grilled cheese was eaten with it. Yummy yummy good in my tummy.

I think it might be fun to experiment with the concept of grilled cheese. I've heard of people changing the bread around, or using different cheeses, or adding other things into the grilled cheese, like veggies or the like. I think I could come up with some interesting ideas, like maybe adding tuna and tomato. Or would that essentially be making a tuna melt?

I grew up on the delicious grilled cheese and tomato and onion open-face sandwiches (minus the onion because ewww). Slice of bread, bit of butter, some cheese, a slice of tomato, and broil the sucker (toaster oven, in my case). I had a friend who ate like a bird and she would still put away 4 of these things when my mom made them thus encouraging her mom to send her to our place frequently.

You're right, though. Nothing makes tomato soup really really good quite like grilled cheese. Mmm.

Ooh, those do sound tasty. I think I'll have to try that! I love tomatoes. They're my favorite quasi-vegetable. XD
