The writing and the characters sucked me in very quickly (I mean, seriously, I don't think I can say I didn't like any of them), and I found myself really wanting more of the story. But at the same time, as I was getting towards the end of Firefly, I knew there really wasn't much left to see, which made me go "WAUGH". Serenity provided some closure, but there was so much more story to tell, so many more adventures for the crew to have. I really hope it resumes in the future, in some sort of medium or another.
While I liked all the characters, I found myself liking Kaylee and Jayne the most. Kaylee, well, Kaylee's just so gosh-darn likeable, and I loved watching the attempts (and fumblings) of her and Simon to start a relationship. Not to mention I've always had a soft spot for engineers. Jayne, however, confuses me a little as to how he managed to shoot and swear his way into my heart. Maybe it's because while he is easily the most deplorable character on the crew, he has his moments of almost-nobility. And he proudly wears his mother's dorky knitted hats.
Also, I really, really, really want to try eating an ice planet, even if it is problematic food.
