Okay, I whipped out the camera, and proceeded to run about the place taking knitting pictures, so I can finally show you all what I've been up to, knittery-wise! I'm gonna try to post them up on Ravelry as well, so if you're on Ravelry, you can look at them there, if you want to.

First, train sleeves!

These are a long time finished, and I'm finally getting around to posting them. They're a set of lace up opera gloves, made with a wonderfully soft silk merino blend that I just looooooooove. They're so soft and fuzzy. There's a bit of a story behind them too. These were my project to and from DC on my first by-myself train ride. I basically did one sleeve on the way up, and one sleeve on the way back. They really helped to while away the hours, and gave me a way to take my mind off of stressing over Dichanthelium specimens and the like (this was the trip where I stayed in the Smithsonian until 11PM trying to finish things up.)

And from that we go to fun with socks!

These I knit with a bamboo/nylon sock yarn called Wendy Happy, which sold me on that each of the colorways is named for a zodiac symbol. These were knitted with Pisces. They're doubly nice because you get a TON of yarn for your money. I'm pretty sure I have enough left over for a second pair. I was awfully proud of how I managed to almost completely get the striping to match up between socks.

I think I may end up calling these Cham Socks. Their biggest claim to fame is that I was working on them while listening to a lecture by the author of PhD Comics, which was an incredibly therapeutic hour of laughing when I really really needed it.

Where from there? MOAR SOCKS.

These are currently unfinished, and I may just call them rainbow socks. I'm about halfway through the second one right now. These are part of my experiments in determining my wool sensitivity, as these are a superwash/nylon blend. I wasn't going to get the ball initially, but, really, look at those colors. The picture doesn't do justice just how bright and happy these socks are. They're totally not going to match, color-wise, because the rainbow's starting in the wrong position, but I don't care that much for these. They're just fun!

And now, some green.

I think this counts as my first official past-defense project. It's a little shawlette made with some wonderful wonderful WONDERFUL silk yarn that's discontinued now, which makes my heart break. It's so wonderfully soft and shiny and delicious. Mmmm, and I love the colors.

I'm not 100% sure I got the lace right, though. I think the holes are supposed to be a bit more open. I think it may have had to do with the stitches themselves, which seemed to always be getting twisted. But I'm still pleased with how it turned out, so I don't think I'll hold it against it.

From there we go into the hatapalooza.

I finally got around to making myself a hat that I can wear with my perpetual braid. It's pretty neat, too, what with how you can button it up around your hair. I found some fun vintagey buttons for it, and I think it'll keep me nice and warm in the winter. It's made with worsted weight baby alpaca, which I used two strands' worth of to get the bulky weight needed for the pattern.

I also had to pull some neat tricks with the pattern to get it to work with my left handedness. I think I'm going to try to post what I did up on Ravelry.

And finally, since I had a lot of the baby alpaca lying around, I went slightly insane and in five days managed to churn out not one, but TWO baby hats. They're the same pattern, save that the one on the left has a double brim, while the one on the right is only a single. I figured it would be a good idea to try and get ahead of the curve so that the next time someone goes and has a baby, I have a gift all ready to go.

Besides, those hats are just adorable. I mean, look at the bobble! :D Although now that I'm prepared for someone to do some babying, we're going to go into a baby drought, where there won't be another person to give a baby gift to for the next five years, or something. But darn it, when the next baby comes along, I'm READY. I may just start a bag for little baby gifts to pull from, since baby things are a nice way to use up extra skeins.

I thought about doing an update on the epic ruana, but picture-wise, there really isn't much to say. I'm on I believe the fifth skein, and all it's done since the previous update is go from a big ruffle to a slightly bigger ruffle. Maybe when it's become a mega ruffle I'll whip out the camera for it.

And that's all the news for now. There will undoubtedly be other images to come! :D
